Joint Public Letter to the European Union on the normalisation of engagement with the Taliban and the need for Rights-Based EU migration policies

The Gender Persecution in Afghanistan Accountability Working Group (GPWG) and 46 Afghan and international civil society organizations delivered a joint letter to top EU leadership demanding an immediate halt to Afghan deportations and an end to normalization with the Taliban. The joint letter calls out EU member states for legitimizing the Taliban under the guise of “technical” return agreements while Afghans face gender persecution, torture, and famine.
